Of course there are no true existential threats to the hero in Humongous games but unlike that undersea heroine Freddi Fish, Sam and Spy Fox inhabit worlds that present a degree of danger. You don't get far in Pajama Sam 1 before the obnoxious, thieving Customs Trees grab you, take all your stuff and leave you with no path forward (what complete bastards!)

But as with all the characters in Sam's universe, even the worst of them present opportunities for empathy. The Trees' panicked reaction when Sam shows them the piece of wood is fully understandable. If your job was collecting tickets at the local theater and someone tried to get in to see Rogue One by presenting a big chunk of human flesh...well, you'd call the police wouldn't you? I sure hope so.
