Description I have been particularly ADD this month or so, and have accomplished almost none of the things I've been wanting to. Well, more like, I partially did a lot of things, but I'm dissatisfied. Ugh. I have several other tutorials I'm working on(including an enormous one!) but this one was quick and easy, and I was practicing doing backgrounds anyway. I actually rather enjoy making tiled backgrounds; they're a lot easier than non-tiled backgrounds, for me at least. Well, for the most part. I'm slowly but surely learning how to make them look less...well, tiled.

I gotta admit--the biggest reason I made this tutorial is as a learning tool for myself. For one thing, every time I make a background, it's usually been a few months since I last made one, so I forget things, although ultimately, I tend to improve. It helps to write them down. For another, well, I don't hand-write things very often nowadays--I've become very, very reliant on typing. I felt like I needed to write a decent amount, just to make sure I still bloody knew how! -laughs-

Anyway. I also made this because, honestly, while the "trick" may seem really, really obvious to some--when I learned it(I can't remember if it was a tutorial, or a tip or just something I figured out on my own) it blew my mind, so I figure there's gotta be others out there like me. I hope this helps someone! ^^

btw; if you'd like to use any of my backgrounds, just tell me. They're all free for use. I'll upload them eventually, once I have enough of them that are decent enough to warrant that.

[edit]Dear god, was I high? There's a LOT of spelling errors and nonsense in here, and I explained things terribly. Jeez. Well, it's pretty self-explanatory? -facepalms- If you need me to clarify anything, just..comment, and I'll fix it.
And, just because it's not obvious: it's adj. layers; adjustment layers. And I said hue/sat(hue and saturation) not huelsat.

How are your scribbles so WONDERFUL damnit?!
(PS: ADD is a tool you CAN use to your advantage. Sometimes you can hyperfocus on something. In drawing, I call it my "inspirational groove" because I usually get like five pages of stuff done in a relatively short while, whereas when I'm not hyperfocused, I am all over the place and can't focus at ALL.)

LOTS OF PRACTICE AT MAKING CRAP LOOK LESS CRAPPY. Blah. I honestly wonder how I ever accomplish anything. I wound up pretty much jumping ahead a few times in this tut just because I was trying to make sure the example bg would actually look good once I was done. I was quite pleasantly surprised with the end result.

I do that sometimes--it's the only way I finish anything. And then other times, I just wind up all over the place. Flah. ='D I wouldn't mind it so much if I could hyperfocus on important things. Like my job and stuff. But alas.
