Ever had a character just pop into your head fully formed and insist that you draw her and give her a story? That's what happened with Tox.

It began when I hatched a shiny Toxel in Pokemon Shield. I eagerly evolved her, trained her up and built a competitive team around her. And as I tweaked the team and began winning in the ranked ladder, my shiny Toxtricity started developing a personality and a story, along with the rest of her team.

I knew that when I drew Tox, she had to be a very expressive and animated character which called for a more cartoony, colorful style and palette. I also wanted to veer away from the design of Toxtricity - just in case I ever wanted to make this story into anything, I wanted it to stand on its own apart from pokemon.

Note: My shiny Toxtricity's name is actually Dazzle! However, when brainstorming names for this hypothetical story, Tox seemed to fit better for the world and characters I had in mind. And I was really growing attached to the title Tox & Zayn. Who's Zayn? Well, you'll just have to wait and see...
