Long long ago, before astronomers realized that the billions and billions of stars in the universe weren't fixed in place, there was a concept known as the Astral Sphere, which was a sphere fixed in place that had all of the stars embedded in it. There was no depth, only size of stars.Related content

you really did that with Apophysis? what transformations did you use mostly? did you use a special script? it really is lovely, I've been trying to get things like that to come out of it when I do it.

Mostly used Rings2, it looks like. Although the center appears to be Juliascoped. I've got a Juliascope tutorial buried in my gallery that you might want to check out.
