Standing at an imposing 6′8, Lara Soelberg/’Laserbeak’ is well-aware of how she’s viewed as barely human by a majority of the public as a very prominent-looking member of the ‘Beast Men’ AND ‘Cold Construct’ class, though she’s got a somewhat cheerfully nihilistic outlook on her life which doesn’t really allow her to wallow in it for long periods. Scathing comments about her looks or insistence that she go to another establishment because they don’t serve ‘her kind’ here don’t faze her anymore; pre-war, she’s basically came to terms with the notion that her life was meant to be short and meaningless, that she could well die on her next Spec Op/Black Op mission and she’s just trying to vibe/have fun with what years she does have left. It’s not like things can change, that’s just the system.

Or can they?

It’s not until she becomes best friends (with benefits) and housemates with a little furball of a man full of righteous fire named Ramiro Vasquez/’Ravage’ who was assigned to be her partner on the field that her view of the world starts to shift and she does find herself questioning everything, eventually following him and Soundwave to become a part of the Decepticons who promised a world where people like her weren’t going to be turned away from bars and restaurants and black-listed from housing just for being what they were.
Of course when things start at going left field, she’s got her own questions about the Decepticon cause as well, but at her core, she cares deeply for Ravage and Soundwave, more than anything she has in her entire life, and wherever it is that this cause will take them, she’s going to be by their side.
