Most of the UK’s mining industry in the Ties That Bind Humanformers!Verse is located in Yorkshire, and despite the high mortality rate and poverty associated with the mining profession which ranks on the lower end of the manual class, many (non-penal) communities centered around it are extremely close knit. Children are often raised communally and immediately adopted by neighbors or family friends in the event of the death of both parents (leading to the surprising find by census takers that there seem to be no orphans in the wake of mining disasters), food and supplies are generally shared around with those who might have had their pay cut due to days off for sickness, and singing is extremely common down in the mines to the point of almost drowning out the hammering and din of coal carts screeching through the tunnels.

Morgan Trayton (Megatron) actually enjoyed some aspects of his time as a miner due to this camaraderie that made it all bearable on bad days; what he did not like and was determined to change was how his people (as he saw them) were treated by the public, who often saw them as uncouth and unlearned.
(The song is a favorite of Thaddeus Marshall/Terminus! Originally it was something of a courting tune for his wife who unfortunately passed away years ago, and in his mourning period, an infant Morgan came into his care as a ‘lucky’ Cold Construct who survived despite being critically ill in the first few weeks of his life. Morgan gave him something to live for and became the son he and his wife had once hoped for before her demise, and listening to Morgan sing with him as a young adult, Thaddeus thinks she would have loved the boy too)
