-shadowy thing / blob is the thing that possessed her for 15 years straight. it's called a "perception shifter" and it can change people's perception, but not the truth. it's overpowered since it can change the perception of anything, including non-human objects. the specific strain that possessed connie can't do anything without a human host.
-bird wings/tail/etc is snowy owl

flameconnie's full condensed backstory;
connie was a normal 5-year old in her universe, which happens to be the creator's prophet universe, when a perception shifter sub-breed possessed her body because she was the perfect target, and changed everyone's perception of her to believe that she'd always had dragon wings, cat ears, and a cat tail. it then used her body for 15 years to become mega-popular, and trapped her in her worst memories to prevent her from rebelling. it used a shadow of what she currently looked like to talk to her so that even if she regained control of her body, she'd (hopefully) be so scared as to return to her mind. at some point the perception shifter decided that the scale ears were absolute trash and changed them to fur. when connie finally did rebel against the perception shifter, she successfully kicked it out of her mind. however, because of her shadow looking exactly like the shifter, the unfamiliar environment and her strange body, she panicked and successfully opened up a portal to the void. by pure coincidence, she managed to stumble directly into the void crew, who took her in and changed her name to flameconnie to differentiate her from her abuser. despite sona's best efforts, they couldn't make her look like a kid again, or remove the perception around her, so they had no choice but to wait for the effects to fade off. they proceeded to raise her best they could, accidently exposing her to a lot of violence along the way, making her just like them in her indifference to "mortal" life. bla bla bla 15 years pass and the perception fades off, she cuts her hair to celebrate and starts to finally change her clothing now and again. around the same time, the void crew returns to her original world to finish a corrupted sona that lives in there off, and she temporarily gets wings while leading the charge to kill the corrupted sona, who is the god who allowed her to be possessed in the first place and lose her proper body and childhood. after the perception fades off, she also starts to finally love her body for what it is. when she's around a thousand years old, she finally gets her void power, and her wing stumps are turned into proper wings. she also changes her name back to connie lmao.
