I really liked the emotive look of this photo. The original reference is actually kinda blurry, so I wanted to add some sharpness and some "oomph" to this, and I kinda like leaving the kinda "rough" look of some of the shading...I think it adds to the whole feel of the drawing...which was more important than the subject herself this time.

I wish I could get a good capture of my drawings where the background is straight white (as it should be and is) but photographing the drawings always shows the light gradations...and it doesn't fit in my scanner. Ah...I need to find the best solution.

This is awesome in every way...probably my favourite piece of yours.

If you want to get a good capture, try white balancing your camera first and get even light and proper exposure. Use a large, soft light source (There's actually a better way to do it, but this is easier). Also, use a gray card and you can white balance in your image software easily. Check your camera's histogram if it has one.

I hope you don't mind, but I am going to feature your work in my journal!

wait...what's a grey card?

It's a card or other material with perfect gray, white, and black used to reference for balancing colour tone and exposure.

MIND?! HA! please do

but you see...my camera is a very simple kodak camera, so otherthan lighting there isn't TOO much i can do. I'm looking forward to in to getting something along the linds of the canon rebel...ya know what i mean. for now i just have to take tons of pics and feature the one that is the least distorted.

thanks for the journal feature.

The rebel xti has gotten great reviews. However (and I'm not a Nikon guy), Nikon seems to have taken the lead this year with the <$1000 DSLRs.

This looks fantastic! I really like the overall style and contrast. Smooth where it needs to be, "rough" as you said, in the right places, for style. It's just so great! Congrats!

Well I'm really glad you appreciate the style (smooth/rough) I used for this drawing, and glad you picked up on that! Thanks again for the !.

I'm sure you have quite a few fans already.

I started with the piece inspired by your writing, but I lost my muse the last month because of being busy with several things and just got it back recently, along with some time to devote to it.
So hopefully soon I'll come close to submitting it.
