Description Have you ever sat down with a book or in front of a computer screen and read the story of a total stranger? Sitting there with friends, surrounded by a hundred or so people or just by yourself it's amazing how much you can relate to something written by someone you don't even know. Words, language, little idiosyncrasies that seem so familiar. Even metaphors and situations which remind you of the past, the present or even hopes for the future.

I like reading pieces like these. It gives me...I don't know...hope, I guess, that somewhere out in the world, another person understands. Even if they don't know my name or even care enough to realise that they've influenced so much just by expressing their personal thoughts.

Stupid little things that seem so insignificant but are actually so very important. Like sex, like love, like lust. Like friends and parents and deaths of loved ones. Self harm, drug addiction, drink problems, being completely and utterly broke. There's always someone out there who can relate; who somehow understands.

It's sort of weird, that feeling.

But it's also brilliant to know that you're not alone.

I have. And it is one of the most important things in the world. It is the connection of minds, it is what reminds us of how wonderful it is to be human. It is the glory of art.

It's funny that we are the supreme race. Intelligent, creative &c and yet we are controlled by such primitive thoughts (lust, anger, hate, passion, love &c). I guess it's a case of the Id verses the Super-Ego. Ah, art is a beautiful thing. Text, image, film; all so connectable.

So very important. It makes me feel so much better to read something I can relate to and know that I'm not alone.

Rofl. Connection.
