Description
After almost three months I decided the colors were too drastic and hard to see. Therefore I re-uploaded the tutorial, the background is now GIMP Grey instead of black and has a less noticeable print in the background as well.
I'm also uploading it as a PNG image this time around to see if that helps with dA's glitching. I don't know about you but all my JPEG images are coming out VERY blurry if they're loading at all.
Hopefully these changes will help more than hurt. And remember to let me guys know what you think.
Alright, let's see if this is easy for us to wrap our heads around!
I based this tutorial off my very popular first manipulation tutorial.
It's much simpler (I.E. SIMPLIFIED) so this should work well for both beginners and experienced eye manipulators alike.
It took only half the time I thought it would and I was even able to create and upload my XP Wallpaper Pack and Vista Wallpaper Pack !
Hopefully you guys like those as well!
And sorry if the background is a little overzealous as well.
I wanted a way to copyright it without having to use my watermark
I felt like I was looking at a freakin' wanna-be Louis Vuitton bag for hours on end.
Again, sorry about that.
Well hopefully you guys find this much more useful than my most recent tutorials.
And links are as follows bellow!

I have a question though.... how come when I try to put eyeliner on an eye that is make-up free, and I select "soft light" or "overlay" the eyeliner disappears or turns kind of pink? What am I doing wrong?

Onyx-Tigeress In reply to KaiRayne [2011-03-07 19:20:16 +0000 UTC]
Well, first off, make sure the layer is at 100% Opacity.
And you're using black for the liner right?

Is that before or after the Gaussian Blur?

Is your eyeliner extending far away from the eye?

Somewhat, but just like normal eyeliner.

Well you could always try and play with the layer modes to see if that makes a difference.
You can also duplicate the eyeliner layer, sometimes that'll get you more along the lines black vs. red.
Another option, duplicate your eyeliner layer (To create Eyeliner 1 with Eyeliner 2 above it) and set the layer mode of Eyeliner #1 to Saturation, like we did for the iris.
You don't have to leave the layer at 100% opacity, you can leave some skin pigments if you wish, then set Eyeliner #2 layer to Overlay/Soft Light like normal.
It's worth a shot.

Exactly! I started using PS cause I had a 30 day trial, but now I have to learn GIMP cause I can't afford PS at the moment. lol Its hard to relearn on different software.

It really is, particularly if you weren't entirely familiar with PS to begin with.

Well then just keep trying. You'll get it.
I took me almost a year to do basic manipulations, and that was without knowing anything at all about GIMP.
So if you actually have a clue as to what you're doing, you should be able to get a hang of things much faster.
And, remember, there's only one place you can go when you're down.
