That looks funny, like 2 different pictures combined together. I agree that 50/50 proportion is not very fortunate.
Btw, take a look how rotten this building is (is it rust, mould, scrapped paint?). I bet in 100 years there will be nothing left of it. And buildings from 19th century will still be here. Sad.

Lovely as always. I agree With RedHeadFitch, though. Maybe a different framing would enhance the pattern-breaking effect.

The composition is almost 50/50. I think maybe changing the ratio and the angle. When I think of distruption in pattern, my naive self thinks that the story telling should be a. attract to a point, b. lead down a path creating expectation, c. end in surprise. To do this I would expect first point and the path to take up 2/3 to 3/4 of the composition to have a level of expectation. Course I'm more likely to say, "Oh cute!" and point and shoot! Heck with deep though.
