Description
"Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe." ~ Gail Devers. This shot was taken in the streets of the northeast part of Brazil, in the state of Bahia. The bus seen on the photo is a bus of a local circus in tour.
Education is really poor in some places of the country. As I was taking photos around, this little boy happened to calmly get out of the bus, had a sit there and started to read a book. His efforts to study are surely an example to us all, in a country in which only a few have access to a good education and even worse, a few actually wants to have it.

I think what gail says is half true. in modern world, you cantΒ achieve anything with our even basic education (reading, writing and counting)
these are the keys of life these days. after that its up to you to make your dreams happen.
just believing and hard work wont get you anywhere.

Very nice shot... It gives me two opposite messages...
- Keeping Hope Alive and Work hard.
And the opposite message:
- What books has given me while I'm still fighting with poverty

It's everything a good black and white documentary photograph should be; well composed, with a wide range of tones and plenty of contrast and an interesting and dramatic subject.

it's a good crop and a good moment, but school doesen't realy help those people so much. school is tricy, it makes you see and know but as well it makes you vulnerable and a very good consumer. It's hard to build you dream in a world where evrybody know and so few people realy do.
