Description This was shot at the top of Corcovado, in which Christ The Redeemer is. People were waiting on the line for their turn to get in the vans and make their way back and as I was observing them, I noticed that time to time they had to walk, making a beautiful pattern. I was able to capture it and the clean sky as background helped me with the soft white and grey background.

Almost aways, the beauty in our everyday life is unnoticed. I say almost always cause we, photographers, are one of the exceptions. It is so good to be a photographer! My mom was very surprised that I could portray such beauty in a simple queue of people, being even more surprised when she thought that she was there too, but could not see anything at all. Society models the behavior of people, and wherever you are you are expected to do the proper things for the situation, and we end up forgetting to actually observe our surroundings.

I think I'm too philosophical today

EDIT: Submitted it now as a print!

Thank you! Yeah the black and white are sure better to give it a bigger impact I think!

I like it, simple and effective.

I will say this principle works much nicer with a backdrop that has more details - let's take a brick building, for example. As it is, the empty space almost seems too much.

Imagining a brick wall as a background, I think it would be OK too. I'm not sure if it would be better, but it would also work well. I like the empty background here cause it gives it more simplicity and it's clean. I think you have a point here, though. Thanks my friend!

I'd say this is really nice, Carlos. But that isn't good enough for this photo. The composition just totally works. Beauty in everyday life indeed! Paulo may be right, though, about the white "matting". Maybe if it was the thickness of one of the people's bodies. Not sure, though.

I have changed the thickness of the white frame, take a look now! After a lot of experimenting I think this is the best, thanks so much for the suggestion and for the compliments, glad you liked it

Okay, I was going to leave a critique, but apparently only subscribed users can do that too... DAmn capitalism

Anyways... An evenly spaced line? In MY Brazil? Hard to believe everyone isn't clustered together in small groups along the line.

I like the framing here. Everyone is almost the same height and at practically the same distance from each other, and while I usually don't like a frame full of bleak, empty sky, it helps set the ambient in this picture. Then out of nowhere that lightpost in the left breaks the pattern and provides a direction to the viewer. The idea conveyed by the picture is simple, so it's good that the picture is also simple - that is, in gray-scale - the colors would probably distract the viewer from the pattern, especially the colors of people's clothes.

It's also fun how three guys are fiddling with their cell phones and the other three people are looking down. It's almost like they were all trying to act casual.

I think the white outline you added could have been thinner, though. It would probably look better thick rather than thin in this case, but it's a bit too thick.

Consider the photo critiqued. A poor man's critique, but a critique nonetheless.

That's true, it is hard to believe that this photo is in Brazil!

I'm glad you liked the image. The idea of the simplicity is exactly what I wanted here, and the grayscale, as you said, is a lot better than the original version in color. I also agree that it seems that they are trying to act casual! Very odd.

I did changed the outline, experimented a lot and I think this is the best thickness.

It's not a poor man's critique, come on! It is great and helped me a lot. dAmn capitalism that does not let you post it in the critiques section!!
