1. The light of dawn peeked through the well-covered walls of the nursery. A small she-cat buzzed as she slept soundly until a patch of sunlight hit her eyelids. Pipkit snapped one eye open and she marveled at the wonderful glow of the sun. Springing up from her mother's protective hold, Pipkit squeaked out, "Look! The sun's awake! Mama, I want to play outside!" She excitedly sheathed and unsheathed her six-toed paws at the thought of playing and exploring the outside world that seemed so huge. Her poofy pelt stood at its end as the young kit practically vibrated out the den.
"And where do you think you're going, little one?" Pipkit heard a warm, calming voice as she felt her mother's paws wrap around her, pulling her back.
"I... I want to explore the world. I want the world to know who I am!" Pipkit mewed, widening her eyes at her mother.
Aspenstar purred. "Oh, I'm sure the world would know you soon enough. Now, stay beside me."
Pipkit felt the urge to disobey but something told her not to and she reluctantly laid down again beside her mother, the leader. Adrenaline still pumped in her veins and she couldn't wait to move again.

2. A small brown tabby kit popped her head out of the nursery den. Her fur stiffened at the sudden change of weather. Everything felt... colder. Was this the word? Cold? Pipkit glanced back cautiously at the sleeping forms of her mother and littermates. Then, she took a gentle step outside. Immediately, she felt the... cold full-on. At her paws was this unusual white substance that semi-melted from the heat of her paws. The kit almost mewed out in dismay as the seemingly solid substance melted into water. All she wanted to do was go out and explore the camp without the protective supervising from her parents and now this weird cold thing was blocking her off from the world.
Pipkit felt extremely discouraged and hot tears brimmed her lime green eyes. When can I be free? She thought, disconcerted. Then, out of the bloom, a small ice crystal landed on the tip of Pipkit's nose. The she-kit stared at this mysterious object curiously until it melted. Sneezing, Pipkit suddenly realized that the air was full of these strange ice crystals. She stood up and stretched her neck to get a closer look at this spectacular show. One by one, these ice crystals floated down. Calming down, Pipkit felt her cheeks grow warm. Cheer had suddenly flooded throughout her whole body. It was like these ice crystals were saying, "Don't be sad, Pipkit! We're here with you!" The kit stood there for several more minutes, forgetting all about exploring and cherished the silent show. She didn't detect another presence siding up next to her.
"What are you doing, Pipkit?"
Whipping her head around, she recognized the large dark cat. "Daddy!" She mewed happily. "Daddy! These ice crystals are giving me a show!"
Purring, her father responded, "Pipkit, those aren't called 'ice crystals.' They're called, 'snowflakes.'"
Pipkit turned her head back to the snowflakes. "Snowflakes," she whispered. Her tail twitched furiously from not being able to run around. "I like snowflakes," she announced.
Shadowcliff gave another warm rumble. "Shall we head back now?" He rested his tail gently on his daughter's back.
Pipkit glanced one more time at the snowflakes. Nodding her head vigorously, the kit mewed, "Let's go back, Daddy!"

A tabby she-cat sat in her nest, sighing a bit. She looked at the ceiling, then at the entrance of the apprentice den. She was terribly bored, and she hoped that she could talk to someone, though she doubted that she would be able to, considering that cats might be out on a patrol or something rather.

Tail twitching, Archpaw made his way over to the apprentices' den. He wanted to inspect a feather he found on the ground. As he entered the den, he spotted a tabby she-cat apprentice he never really talked to, being the unsocial butt he was. He padded over to his nest shyly and hoped the apprentice didn't notice him.

As she heard pawsteps, she cast a quick glance at the apprentice who walked in. "Oh, u-uhm, hi?" She mewed, her voice uncertain. She wasn't good at making friends. In fact, she had none at all. Wasppaw just knew she wanted to make a new acquaintance at the very least.

Archpaw glanced up and shyly nodded his head, acknowledging her presence. "I'm Archpaw," he whispered. He wrapped his paw around the feather and sat down in his nest to examine it more closely.

She looked at him as he played and inspected the feather he was entranced by. "Wasppaw." The she-cat stuttered. The tabby looked at the ground, and wrapped her tail tightly around her paws nervously.

Glancing up, Archpaw slowly held out his paw with the feather balanced on the tip. "W-want to look at it?"

"O-Oh, y-yes please..." She crawled over to him slowly, looking at the feather. It was very pretty, and she was entranced that beautiful feather.

"I found this when I was on a patrol this morning. I believe it may have been a falcon or something," Archpaw informed, watching Wasppaw as she inspected his feather. "I've noticed that the feather has some barbs that would hook on to each other, allowing the bird to fly. That's really something, huh?"

Giving a small smile, Archpaw mewed, "I wish I could fly." Looking slightly embarrassed at his outburst, he explained, "I mean, think about it: we could see everything!"

Archpaw let out a chuckle. "Did you actually try to fly? That'd be interesting to watch." He curled his tail around his paws.

He let out a laugh that surprised himself. "My, I can think it didn't go well. Did you hurt yourself?"

Wincing, Archpaw glanced down at his own paw as if he could feel the pain. "Ouch, that must've felt bad."

"It really did. But, Emberstripe fixed me up. Buuut, I still like to imagine that I can fly." She smiled a bit, looking at the ceiling with a dreamy glaze in her eyes. "That's all I've ever wanted. Besides a friend, of course."

Nodding, Archpaw shyly licked his chest fur. His ears felt warm as he felt her gaze on him.

Gratefully it has been applications that I would have accepted, but it is still getting to be too continuous for comfort. x.x Because of his personality, I think it would be fun to see him being mentored by Cliffstalker~ Also, send me a poke when you are officially back so I can take you off hiatus.
