Temporary stand-in for until I figure out what the heck is wrong with my scanner (AGAIN), and scan in better quality......I think I'll go over to Emily's house and mooch off her or something...I worked hard on this, dangit, and I want it to look good here!!!!!!!! xD Just kdding.
The color is messed up........ I think it's mostly alright except for her fur, which should be more purple-y, and the dress, eyes and shoes less vibrant. Oh, and....I FRICKING DID IT AGAIN! I colored her arms wrong....I think they should be purple, unless people like them better this way I guess!

But anyway....

Here is another picture of Maria....
The song(s) that inspired this, thus most likely the theme, is "Wandering Daughter" by Kimya Dawson. I think the lyrics fit Maria well, simple but with meaning. Another song would be "The Sore Feet Song" by Ally Kerr, from Mushi-shi. (I know it's a dumb name, but listen to the song, it's very beautiful and fits this picture perfectly, I think.....listen to it!!!! )

Maria is a sort of traveller, just like Meela, but it's less prominent in her backstory than Meela's. Maria is worldly, and her main character trait is her deep, profound thoughtfulness and gentleness. She comes off as a bit strange sometimes with poetic little sayings and philosophies, and can sometimes seem a bit melancholy or even introverted, but she's very kind, peaceful and friendly. She's agreeable, but sometimes appears to be deep in thought, worried about something, though she's not sure what. Though she tries to hide her pain and bring happiness to others, she's somewhat emotionally unstable at times....

As you will see in future pictures, I sometimes associate her with clouds and rain. What is my reasoning? It's not to suggest "emo-ness" or to look cool or anything like that.
Maria is an optimistic, "every cloud has a silver lining" type of person (no pun intended), and she can find happiness even on the dreariest of days....that's why I show her with gray clouds. And she loves rain, it's her favorite kind of weather.

I like to think of her as like a Tohru Honda, but less, you know, air-headed and dizzyingly cheerful...
