No it's easy. Use the Vore's guided spike shit whatever to ruin the zombie's day and then when it's just you two you can strafe around him moving in and out of range so that he keeps trying to slash you (and not launching guided thing) but unable to actually slash you.

Vores are too tough to kill with an axe and a axe won't gib the zombies, which the only way for them to TRULY die.
