I took this photo during our Photography I field trip at the art museum, after looking at all the art we were shown in the tour, in a side meeting room I saw this great sculpture of a cowboy and his horse. Immediately I was drawn to this visual and with the lighting in the room new that I had to take this picture and try my best at making it look just like an old fashioned photo. The first thing that I did with this image was to completely take out the background, while I did this by duplicating the layer and erasing the background as close as humanly possible the original stays hidden on the PSD only for me to be able to better grasp where this image was to how it is now. The next thing I did was took the blur tool and softened the edges of the sculpture a bit so the lines weren’t overbearing to the image. Then I added a few layers in which I could manipulate the coloring and effect of this image. I put a crème color in the layer behind the sculpture. I had tried to burn the edges next but I did not feel that it felt right for the image so in a new layer I made an oval and then inversed the selection filled it with a more saturated version of the crème color and then burned it a bit. The final thing I did was changing the coloring of the image a bit this I did through the color variations option by adding a bit more red and yellow to the midtones. In this image I really love the lines, the lighting and shadows. I’m really happy that it came out so well, I think it looks like it could almost be an old photo in an oval frame.
