Whoa. This is a whole lot more cool than the other version. The colors of an oil slick are fascinating. It looks kind of molten-metallic. The lighting (or the angle?) makes great colors.

And the title is a great play on words! Again, it enhances the picture.

Maybe the subject is the oil slick? I don't know; see what others say.

I really like how you like it and I'm very suprised that someone does.
The main wow-factor that I find is the bright coloring (which was achieved via enhancing the original). It's just not a piece that I can get lost in and there doesn't seem to be any underlying meaning- a piece that really touches someone is my ultimate goal in photography.
It feels awkward to be putting my self-critique down in writing- never done that. o_o

I should just attach a huge thanks signature- everytime I get a comment from you, it really deserves one. : )))

Oh, I'm just having fun, encouraging you and giving what pointers I can, because you are an eager newbie. I'm still rather a newbie, myself. I don't really know what I am doing, either. My brother, [link] is an incredible nature photographer who loves to play with his manipulations. I also have 18-year-old twin boys who are both rather accomplished at computer stuff. So I have easily accessible computer tutors!

Putting your self-critique down in writing is a great skill to learn! It will help you evaluate how you compose a picture, why you choose to crop here versus there, why some colors should be enhanced and others dimmed. I think it helps me think more clearly about what I am doing, to evaluate my process on paper.

AND--finding a piece that touches people takes time and practice. How will you know what works unless you play with ones that don't work? The one that grabs people will probably be tucked away in a roll of pictures that rot! Isn't that the way things usually work?? Don't be too hard on yourself.

So, have FUN. Otherwise you will burn out.
