I've experimented a little with how to draw cartoony humans, while keeping them slightly realistic at the same time - though not too realistic. I think I like this style I ended up with.. It's easier to draw, more comfortable to draw, and I like how - as my dear friend ~FaithStarLight commented when she saw these - I can now exaggerate the expressions more without making it look unnatural.
I'm still working on the style though, getting more used to it.. But so far it's a fun style to work with, and I think it sort of suits Sam and Spike as well.
So, yeah, I'm curious to hear what you guys think of this? :3

You're right. It does have that more natural look to the expressions. But, I liked the more realistic versions as well. It gave a more sense of "this really happens, so look and be prepared to find" kind of feeling. But experimenting is good! Keep up the great work!

I have to admit, your old style sometimes reminded me a lot of Naruto, especially Spike's hair... I think this style is a lot more original for you, also it makes them look more like growing children-adults you know :3

Its a good medium, and your friend was right, it is nice how you can exaggerate the expressions. Something about that seems to fit your style in general somehow.

The one on the far left makes me think of Jim Hawkings (for some reason) from Treasure Planet.

Both of them kinda seem to share the characteristic of prominently sticking out ears, though. Sure, a bunch of people have ears like that, but perhaps for the sake of diversity within your characters you may not want to do that. Or maybe you meant to draw them that way. Anyway, I'm just sayin, that what it looks like to me.
