I enjoy this piece; i feel that it hints back at wash technique paintings even though it is by way of photography. The elongation of the elephants trunk echoes Salvador Dali's 'The Elephants' - 1948, the symbol of the trunk whether phallic or not stretches not only in terms of proportions but also into a dream scape as this whole image is rather "dreamy" for lack of a more academic term.
The female being uplifted brings to mind that typical Horror movie styled women as in Barbara Creeds book "The Monstrous-Feminine". The author argues that when a woman is constructed as monstrous, it is almost always in conjunction with reproduction and mothering functions.
Returning back to the idea of the artwork having a dream like quality , the concept of dreaming is viciously intriguing especially in the terms of reality and what our senses can perceive...When we dream we are not aware of it, if we were we would be experiencing a lucid dream (which branches out on a completely alternative theme ). I am sure you have heard of the Philosopher Rene Descartes who dealt with the dilemma of knowing the difference between dreams and reality, well, in the world of art and artists we find that the understanding of reality may be viewed by spectators as warped and exaggerated yet in some ways I would like to argue that very often artists see things in a pure spectrum. The artwork as dreamlike as it may seem is in fact more honest in its attempts than just plain factual reality (if something like that even exists). Our ears and our eyes will always deceive us but the limitless possibilities of the imagination transcends the folds of time and reason. It is a game best played by dreamers.
As for technique a slight magnification into the understanding of light and darkness, shadow and lighting may improve the appearance somewhat yet I think it is all in all a lovely piece that you ought to be proud of.

This has a lovely surrealist feel to it. The bath tub is perfect.

Great concept, with that bath on that bare, arid land. Wonderful work.
