Description I asked him if the store made any money, and this is the result.Β  How he's managed to make this money while traveling all over Solstheim is one of those mysteries we may never solve.

While it's nice that he's happy...eh, it still doesn't look right that he is.

I dunno... I love that he becomes a sweet romantic squish after you marry him! Like the DB is somehow the cure for his brooding nature, and she's all he needed to find new happiness.

Also, I imagine not having to fight the beast-blood all the time is a massive relief to him...

You're totally right. Just getting a good night's sleep must be fabulous. I can't imagine what it must have been like for him and Farkas that first day after they got cured.

Yeah...I wrote that into my story! The relief of not having the demands of another side, tugging at you all the time...

I think his smile is so cute :3 It makes me *squee* whenever I see him smiling at my character, Emilia (but it is a bit creepy how he just watches her... constantly). I think that with all the crap the two of them had to go through in this game, they deserve all the happys.Β

Also, I have a mod that allows the spouse to give your character a hug once a day. Best case scenario, he hugs Emilia while saying "it's good to see you again, dear." Β (aawwww) Worst case scenario: his arm clips through her head. lol

OpalBee In reply to ceruleetheblue [2013-12-09 05:08:49 +0000 UTC]

Yay for hugs!Β  Which mod is that?Β  I tried finding something like that on the Nexus and failed.Β  Argh, the clipping drives me nuts in this game and has ruined so many otherwise nice screenshots of mine.

Yeah, I wonder sometimes after all the sheer crap everyone goes through in the Companions' quest line why Vilkas ever agrees to marry the Dragonborn in the first place!Β  But to me he is the sweetest of all the marriage candidates and I love his husbandly dialogue.Β  Though of course he goes back to being all business again the rest of the time (and sneering).

The mod is on the Steam workshop at steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles… . It's called Marriage Dynamic Outfits by flexcreator. If you can tell by the title, it also gives you the ability to change your spouse's clothes. I personally think the Mourner's Clothes look best on Vilkas, and the outfit isn't very common so he doesn't end up looking like those scrub merchants around town.

I agree with the idea that their struggles can bring them together. I personally got hooked on Vilkas after the Purity of Revenge quest. I felt so bad for his loss and I wanted to hug him! D: In my story I made this the turning point in their relationship. When Emilia first came to Jorvasskr, she inadvertently made it very clear right away she didn't think werewolves were anything but monsters without the ability to think or feel like humans (and pissed Vilkas off). When she found out Farkas was a werewolf, she attacked him and ran away (which REALLY pissed Vilkas off). Only when she realized they were just regular people who got handed a smelly shit stick did she start to change her perspective. Even after she rejoined the Companions she was still slightly afraid of the Circle, but she decided to put her fears aside for the sake of her shield-brother when he was determined to make the Silver Hand pay for Kodlak's murder. And seeing Vilkas in such a broken, vulnerable state made her change her mind about him as well. And of course Vilkas saw that Emilia was able to put the needs of her friends over her own fears, which showed her in a new light.Β Β

I'm rambling haha.

Bringing out the smart-aleck here: He agrees to marry the DB 'cause she's the only one who would have him . Just kidding !

Yeah, I kinda wonder about that, too. But, maybe, that's why they're so close...the whole struggles making their relationship stronger... Dunno... My DB tends to be pretty softspoken and extremely loyal to her friends and people she cares about, so in my little headcanon Vilkas falls for her long before she chooses to look for marriage (might also explain why he constantly watches the DB... HeΒ likes being around/near her,Β he's being protective/keeping an eye on her to make sure she's okay, or he's just plain horny ... Okay that last one was just wrong, but someone had to say it !)

RandaGarg [2013-11-30 20:24:12 +0000 UTC]

Nice picture; and I have to agree, he does look creepy when he smiles. Personally, I don't have my DB ask him for food/money/etc... because it just feels wrong... kinda like she only married him for the money. I don't know if I like him sneering at me all the time though, but I also think it's strange how different he acts after marriage (bi-polar Vilkas is just a little scary Β ). The way I wrap my head around it (AKA make up random crap Β ), is that when there are no witnesses, he let's you see his softer side; when there are others around, he's all business.

See, your way of looking at it totally makes sense to me (i.e. how he behaves at different times).Β  Yeah, I don't like his smile...when I married him to my character he had a big old grin on his face that was really unsettling.

Funny, I don't know why I occasionally ask him for money, considering the obscene amount of septims I'm carrying around, but they give you so little other homey behaviors to play around with.Β  I'm thinking of downloading some kind of marriage mod to make things more interesting...

I love it when he smiles. But it is partially because of my head canon, I guess...

Wow. It's funny. When he's speaking to the player as his spouse, his whole personality changes. It's hardly even him anymore.

I know, it's kind of odd.Β  He can hand you a pie and say 'Bye, love' and go right back to sneering at you.

Well, when you go through a dungeon, you collect some stuff and coins. Why wouldn't Vilkas do so?

I have noticed that everything in his inventory seems to come up for sale when you ask him what he has. I'm always tempted to buy his wedding ring from him....

I guarantee I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure he doesn't do this again!Β  I don't any more coins or homecooked meals!

Pyreiris In reply to OpalBee [2013-11-28 02:32:13 +0000 UTC]

Ha! I stopped getting homecooked meals from him about a month after getting married, I think I accidentally sold one, and glitched him out. Wouldn't it be nice if Bethesda had fixed that? I have his last meal sitting in the dining room of Proudspire. Word of warning: Never sell one of Vilkas' homecooked meals!
