Description
Ok, phew, it's done now...!This is the final rendered version of the tank. Sorry, no backpacks but I did add the entrance steps! As you can see I have fixed the textures on the gun barrel and the wrinkles are gone too!
I feel that I need to add something about the design concept I have for this as it is not based on anything real. It's sort of like the South African G6 canon that is self-loading. So there is only a crew of 2, the driver/commander and the gunner. The shells are housed in a carousel inside the body of the tank and they are fed up to the turret that houses the loader/ejector and the gun. The top of the turret has a persicope that allows the commander to see around the turret. There is a range finder above the gun. The spent shells are ejected out the back of the turret. There is a windscreen, yes a windscreen, making this more like a car. The idea may see absurd but that's what imagination is all about. As you can see there is a cabin for housing the crew.
I still haven't ironed out all the kinks (Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola!!! - unless you are my age that might go right over your head). I did manage to figure out crew entry where the whole window slides back into the vehicle and entry is through the top. I will possibly feature this in the scene with 2 tanks, one closed and the other open.
Tech stuff : - 3D Studio Max Version 6, lit with skylight using standard scanline render.
Polygons : - 77 753, render time 6 mins per frame.

This is a tank that I played with when I was drawing comic books in the late 80's

Pretty cool, since I can't do anything like this. I'm always in awe of you that can.

Steve, I've had fun with this project of yours since I've seen it my only technical-esque comment would be the need for a glacis so that the main gun could elevate...
I like the ripples, the romper-room hand bars and the whole appearence. camo reminds me of bush colours of SA Army blended with southern european - oh lord, I need a social life!!!!!!!!!
I truly believe that at some stage in the future you can revisit this and develop it further.
Ok, first round's on Steve and I mena the liquid sort not HESH, AP, HEAT yadda yadda yadda

Yeah, I wondered about gun elevation right after I put the finishing touches to it... Nuts! Oh well, it is really an experiment and a learning experience and I am a chuffed as can be about the end result.
The camo is from a 3-view of a WW2 German scheme that I loved. I think the colours work really well together. It's all about experimentation I feel, it's good to try things that aren't necessarily obvious.
And yeah, first pint's on me.
