Just some quick sketches of soldier uniforms from the world of Hardboiled. Having armour on a soldier and still making them look sorta mid-20th century in their profile can often be fairly challenging; I did it in different ways for each soldier. The Golden City trooper uses big plates of armour that are form fitting and don't really resemble anything realistic; I could emphasis his build and the heroic proportion idea of the Golden City with them by their placement. I downplayed it as much as possible with the Union City Marine, trying to make it look like just part of her uniform coat, keeping the shoulder pads small and unadorned, and blending the neck guard into a classic collar in the style of RL Marine dress blues. For the Anglian, I just went full retro, using shiny metal plates.
