Description
The first of several drawings illustrating the characters of Shadowless - this is Jeanne Deschamps, the main character, a steampunk Jeanne D'Arc expy.
She was born in Saint-Malo, in Britanny, in 1881, and at the time of the first episode she's a section chief in the 13th Infantry Regiment of the French Empire with a rank of "adjudant" (equivalent of "master sergeant").
She is shown here wearing a forage cap (bonet, in French) rather of the more common Kepi or Adrian Helmet and armed with a scoped Berthier M1897 Rifle , field modified with a magazine extension to hold five rounds instead of three. The scope is offset to the left like on the Lebel, even though the Berthier has a bent bolt handle.
The outfit on the right is simply the regular uniform with the coat removed.
