thanks.
I heard that quite a few times but I think itΒ΄s like with most things a question of liking. I have always been working with max and I got used to it.

I'm sure you've heard it before! I had an animation class with a guy who insisted on using Max (the school was using XSI and the instructor was using XSI and Maya)... he worked almost twice as hard as the rest of us... but the end result was he got really good at building and rigging everything in Max... while the rest of us just did exactly what the instructor told us to... and I've forgotten most of it.

Nice rendering! I'm proficient with renderers from Mental Images, but I'm also looking forward to learning VRay. Any tips on good resources?

thank you
What do you mean by ressources? Tutorials? In most cases google will help you .
If you are searching for vray materials, thats the way you should go [link]

It looks so freaking real, I don't believe you made it in 3d

I usually can spot the difference between CGI and a photo but this one took me some time. Excellent job

thanks
So what gave you the clue?

So here are the clues : the foam (too dark and reddish); the ice cubes (also too dark and reddish); the half lemon at base of the cup (too much light inside for such a thick skin); the glass (just a little bit); the icicles on the glass somehow don't look natural; the straw is a tiny little bit too straight. However, the texture of lemons are extremely good, both the inside and the outside, as well as the modeling
.

Awesome render. Texture of the lemon on the left is amazing. Could you share how did you do a material for lemon on right?

thanks
You mean the material for the cut surface? Its quite similar to the material of the paring. The only difference is that I used some maps (for diffuse, specular, refraction and displace) to to make the flesh more translucent and the outer rim less.
If you like and if you have vray I can upload the two materials for the lemon.

Yes I like it very much. Sure than I have VRay
I will be glad if you upload materials.

Wow, that is awesome! I love it, so simple but you can see a lot of work went into this to render it out, I love the realistic look on it, you did an amazing job my friend!

Nice tutorial! I work with Maya, but you can use the same technique. Very nice. And the noise map really does the job

Nice image! I like the material from the left lemon
I reallly like the realism of it. The ice in the coke, and the distortion of the glass.
Can you tell me anything about the technique you've used for the waterdrops on the glass?
Good job!

opengraphics In reply to ruudcoenen [2012-04-22 10:34:56 +0000 UTC]
Thanks!
I used the PArray Particle System in Max for the waterdrops. To add this "freezed" look I used a subtle noise map in the bump slot of the glass material.
