Description
"Trinity " was the code name for the first nuclear bomb test, a part of the Manhattan Project , which lasted between 1942 and 1946, during late WWII. The aim of this project was for the Allied Forces to develop the first nuclear weapon before the Axis Powers. It was led by the USA, with active participation from both the UK and Canada.So... something that didn't involve MASSIVE amounts of research. Also going back to traditional media and abusing my pens some. Lots of felt-tipping there.
That's the site of the actual test in the background, which is taken from a photo . The test was conducted on 16th July 1945, with a twenty-minute countdown starting at 5:10am, hence Alfred's watch.
Quite a few changes made to the initial draft . I'm actually pretty surprised that I've never seen any fanart of this event. The Manhattan Project was one of the most awesome things I'd learnt in high school physics.
I really like how Nantucket turned out. On the other hand, Canada's ahoge placement caused me quite... a bit... of frustration. I also get Weird Al Yankovic's "White and Nerdy" in my head when I look at him. I tried to make Al and Matt have the same face. Not much else I have to say about this; just... feels good to be using so much black, and to be shading by hand this time 'round.
Oh my gosh, my last inking pic was done almost two years ago?! And why does Alfred always have a sh*t-eating grin every time I draw him?
Axis Powers Hetalia, England/Britain/Arthur Kirkland, America/Alfred F. Jones and Canada/Matthew Williams belong to Himaruya Hidekaz.

Lol, Niels Borh, one of the leading scientists on the project was Danish though. just saying *waves national flag*
It's a very, very good drawing, though. It really feels ominous. They look like a trio of super heroes in a super villain setting. ...Does that make sense?

Yeah Niels Bohr as well as many of the scientists were "bought in" by the project from overseas. That's what happens during most wars and grand-scheme projects anyway. If I were to draw all of their nationalities it'd be neverending.
I prefer to think of them as anti-heroes.

Probably one of my favorite Hetalia pieces, merely because of the event its based off of. You're right; no one really draws this historical event.

I do love a good excuse for massive ink-wastage.
And thanks, yeah. I really really appreciate that you appreciate my references. Really. It makes me feel... victorious.
YAY FOR HISTORICAL HETALIA!

I'm going to ninja-in a well-deserved review... like a ninja! I'm in America too! How... appropriate. ANYWAY.
Yes, there is a lot of black, but it isn't the "overdone, used for every scene" sort of American comic black. It's PERFECT for the tone and it gives a nice feel to it all as a whole.
America looks eager, England looks like a gent, and Matthew looks like a cute nerd.
The coloured eyes are awesome, great and striking against the black and white. And the background with the grey and the photo somehow brings it all together. I like how that photographed tower-thing is centred.
IT ALL WORKS TOGETHER AWESOME.
I own labcoats like Mattie... three of them...
... I'm not even a SCIENTIST! D :
So... The balance of black and white, the grey and the SMIDGEN of colour straight in the middle (and where the eyes look first) make it all come together AWESOMELY.
10/10
>:[ AWESOME.

Oh, wow. This IS very nicely done! All that black! ...though, here, I'm wondering just how much ink you used for it, heh. I think my favourite bit in this whole piece are those papers that USA is holding. I love how bendy they look! Like they're REAL! *gasp*
But as to who I like hest here, I'd have to say, England. He's such a punk, but a good looking one, at that. Love his suit. It's so business-formal like. Why don't men dress like that any more? *sob*
Really good job on the linework, and awesome job balancing out the colours. With England being dark, and Canada being relatively dark enough to balance England out, and USA being all light and... big-grin-ey.
Also, I hate to say this, but you have now exposed me to so much Hetalia that I recognised them offhand without reading your artist comments. Damnit, guh, hubbie.
Good job, anyway! Thanks for sharing!
