Description
I have seen some people seeing this picture as being about solitude or struggling for survival and other things, which is perfectly fine, but wasn't really my intent. So heres what I wrote about the theme in reply to a recent critique:Β"Just to clarify, Β the intended theme as stated in the title is about knowing oneself, connectedness and being(not doing). "I Am" is to me a pretty powerful and exhilarating statement reflected in the picture with the tree and the sun as the source. When the clouds move away, (can be seen as negative thinking) you can know yourself. Thats also why I broke the rule of having the subject to the side. Because when you know yourself you aren't going anywhere. You are in The Now."

Themes that extensively strike me in photos like those are how well a picture can relate to one's feeling of solitude and inner peace. No people, no civilization, only the serene impression of being one with the nature. Shots like those are a great representation of this thought.
I have to admit I really like how blurry the reflections in the water are in this photo, making a really good stand out for the trees on the hills. The light gently stroking the ridges looks great and greatly adds up to the overall atmosphere of the scenery.
There isn't really much that would disturb the mood of the picture, however I would like to point something out. First and foremost, the clouds are destroying the peaceful image of the foreground. They draw the viewer's attention too badly. Secondarily, wouldn't it be maybe a little better to have positioned the tree more to the side rather than to the center? I don't think it's a major flaw but in my opinion it would increase the significance of the theme even more.
In summary, this is a great shot; just except for the clouds that ruin this bliss of solitude I've had in the first place.

Hello! Thanks for the critique!
Just to clarify, Β the intended theme as stated in the title is about knowing oneself, connectedness and being(not doing). You are in The Now. Anyways, these are some of the thoughts that went through me while making a title. But this probably arent very obvious And it could very well be that it doesnt work all that well.
I do have a nighttime photo of this scene, with no clouds and the tree to the right that will be posted at some point. Maybe thats more to your liking. Thanks for your kind words and your honesty!Β

Stubborn little tree picked the perfect home for itself,
and poses proudly for your perfect picture...
