young man wakes up years awaycovered in bees cursing the sun as it burns
, pushes up from concrete and smiles and says:
i Man have survived again
and cracks chicken bones and sucks on marrow, grins
i Man eats again
, throws away that part of himself for a moment and grins
some one else again away to try another day at a time.
young man breaks his back on sleds and grins and walks away
i Man walks away and doctors scream no and priests scream yes
old man grins and says 'maybe so' wrong again grab a beer.
cynics scream why.
grows old and greys, gins it all away,
grins, hey, why not.
Then spits up teeth and grins again.
Young man passes away.
cynics grit their teeth and bare down and scream and curse and yell and deny and lie and
Priests lay in the chapel yard and laugh at his stupidity
Old man grins and chuckles and passes on
Jesus lies in dirt cots and rots
chickens give up their bones, young man smiles,
and dies.
And the world turns.
