My grandfather used to command the North East Air Defense back when the Voodoo was in service, out of Syracuse New York.

ADC WOW that's cool, My Father was part of the 60th FIS when they were based at Otis. He was a specialist on radio/electronics on the F-101B systems.

Oh cool, my grandpa was a REO at one time in his career too. Flew in F-89s, F-101s etc quite often... survived a few crashes in the F-89 too. Originally he had been trained at a fighter pilot in WW2 but thanks to some show boating got transferred to Navigator / Bombardier and after the war stayed with the bombers until after Korea, at which point he got transfered back to fighters and what not. Although during Vietnam he was operating a large chunk of College Eye flights out of Thailand.

Yeah I think the Scorpion was prone to crashes from what I've read. My father went on from 60th FIS to work in AFTAC. He retired from AFTAC in 1987 having spent about 22 years with that organization.
