Thanks! Yeah I don't think they really intended for it to be in the kneeling postion. I think it had more to due with the fact that the hydraulics in the nose gear have been drained out of it because it is a "Hangar Queen" display.

That's cool! It's hard to believe how low the F-14 is. The landing gear look almost stupid

Actually the gear oleo is compressed down as if it were in the catapult on the carrier. The aircraft isn't that low when taxiing or parked.

Actually when the nose gear oleo is in the normal configuration, the cockpit is almost at the same hieght as the F/A-18C.

Look around the internet for some carrier photos, you might find some that have both aircraft together to verify the differences if any. I have seen both aircraft together and they are very similar in height,
