Fallout 3 is the earliest (and quite possibly best) blend of FPS and RPG elements. But I have a hard time considering it a true successor to Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics.

Seems like you've missed Fallout New Vegas. That's a trueΒ successor to original Fallout games, despite the usage of poorly made engine and art-style from Fallout 3.Β

I'm actually curious what makes you prefer Fallout 3 over New Vegas in terms of being true to original games, but I'll leave it to you because I don't consider comment section as an appropriate place for long discussions.
