Ahh I see! I was trying to watch Sonic X one day but then I failed because Tails had a neck. 
I think all of the characters had a neck, it's just that on one scene had Tails neck SUPER Long!
but I don't think thats the reason why XD

But yes, watch the japanese version with subtitles since the american butchered everything.
