Description Calamity from the Sky - Prologue

The sky lit up ablaze when the meteor struck the earth. The ground shuddered and cracked, the very planet itself screaming in pain. And then, as quickly as it began, everything was quiet again in the North.

"People of the Odin Tribe" spoke the Elder "Our planet is hurt, its screams to us even now. The time has come for us to help the planet as it has helped us.
"We go now, to the wound, and we shall pluck the thorn from the paw and make all right once more"

The tribe cheered in anticipation, man, woman and child hastening to pack up their camp. And thus the Odin Tribe travelled to the crater. They descended into the very earth itself, into the crater to find the stone that had struck the planet. The people gathered around the stone, and began to force it away from the earth when disaster struck.

"We musn't retreat my people!" yelled the Elder as the creature rose from within the meteor, decimating the people closest to the meteor with a single swipe.

"Go forth, Odin!" called the Elder, raising a red stone above his head "Destroy that monster"

The stone began to shine brightly and amidst that light there appeared a one eyed rider atop an armoured horse bearing six legs. Odin took his red hot lance in hand and cast it to the sky. It fell upon the creature, who merely plucked it from above and tossed it aside.

"Humph" grunted the Elder, watching as his people were swept aside. "You leave me no choice. Go Odin, Zantetsuken"

Odin, rode forth, brandishing his heavenly blade, ready to smite the fiend who simply smiled. It raised a hand and gathered energy to its fingertips releasing a single beam that sliced across the crater. Odin slowed, then stopped before falling and fading away.

The creature sprang toward the Elder, gathering him up in a tentacle like arm.

"What are you?" gasped the Elder as the creatures eyes shone.

The Elder fell to the floor, the creature gone, replaced by a man.

"You may call me Jenova" spoke the man, taking the Elder by the throat "And you, in return will tell me everything you know, although speaking will not be necessary"

The Elder screamed as Jenova's eyes shone once more.

The Cetra and the Humans. One a race of nomads who spend their time listening to the Planet's Call and seeking the Promised Land. The other, traitors to those ways, forsaking the call of the Planet and the Promised land in favour of settling down and building settlements.
The humans were of no import to Jenova. They knew nothing worth knowing as far as he was concerned. The Cetra however had knowledge enough to destroy the Planet itself if they wished to do so.

It was the Materia. Coloured stones of crystalline lifestream, the very lifeforce of the planet, that granted its users superhuman abilities, or the ability to cast spells, or even summon mighty creatures to do battle.

Amongst these stones, there were two that were of greater interest to Jenova. The Black Materia, Meteor, and the White Materia, Holy. As its name suggests, the Black Materia can call down a meteor from the sky, with enough power to inflict a fatal wound upon the planet. The White Materia has the power to stop Meteor, calling on the very lifestream itself if necessary.

Knowledge of these two stones, beyond that of their existance, belonged to one man alone. He was the Elder of the High Tribe of the Cetran people, the man with the most authority in the whole of the Cetran people, Bahamut.

"Bahamut?" spoke Jenova, dropping the Elder "Perhaps he and I shall have to have a little talk then"

"No, I will not allow it!" shouted the Elder

"You are in no position to oppose me" spoke Jenova before laughing in glee as the Elder and his people began to change into monsters, abominations who fled the crater, intent on causing havoc in the land above.

Obviously, I don't know that much about FF7. HOWEVER, I can say that you're a good writer. So I'll comment on your writing rather than what I know about FF7.

I really liked the way you started. I saw a lot of imagery and could imagine the scene in my head quite clearly. However, maybe because I don't know much about the overall story.... but I feel like I should be able to understand the characters more. If that makes sense. I really felt a sense of, I guess you could say, calmness when reading it. It was as if I was reading the story and understanding what was going on right away.

I hope this critic helps. Good job.

yeah this helps
If I decide to continue this I'll try to make the characters a little more understandable
Tbf, not much of FF7 needs to be known for this (I hope ) being that it is a sort of prequel not using any of the characters from FF7 besides the creature JENOVA (That and it is set so many millenia beforehand too xD )
