Round 5
Part 1
Time You Can Never Get Back
The smell of gunpowder and gasoline pierced the air as the distant rumbling and wailing rang through the air. Another smell wafted up to my nose, a distinct scent pertaining to metal, yet not. The smell made me want to vomit, but I could not identify the source. As the light faded, and I instantly understood why as a familiar sight caught my eyes. The broken glass, the dents on the cars, the blood covered street. I was stood alone with lantern in hand, and back in the 1920's.
A wave of panic crossed me as I watched the blood fade away, as if someone had washed it away. It was Ricky's blood, and now it's gone. He really is gone. No! I can't think that way! I'm going to save him, no matter what! I can't give up now, even if there isn't any hope of getting him back.
Unfortunately for me, I was broken from my thoughts by a horrific screech that sent chills down my spine. Why you ask? Well, there are about a hundred rat sized creatures known for erasing beings from existence charging right at me from about fifty meters away. It's rather understandable to see why.
Acting on instinct, I opened the door to the lantern and shouted at the top of my lungs, “Exuro!” Flames spewed from the lantern, consuming everything in sight. When the flames died down, as that was left of the Null was a strange black dust that faded from reality.
Okay, survived that little bout of death, on to priorities. First, find the portal to the next time period. Second, attempt to get in touch with the Oracle. Third, find the others if possible. Fourth, figure out how in the worlds the Or- Valentine is able to use telepathy across dimensions. Scratch the last one, probably due to the cards. Alright, fifth, survive these two gorilla-like Null who just rounded the corner and have spotted me. Crap!
As quick as a flash, I put the training Mrs. Christi and Valentine put me through to good use, though it feels like I've been doing stuff like this all my life. Pulled a pistol from its holster at my hip, I immediately began to fire rounds into the Null as charged at me like a pair of trains. It felt like time suddenly slowed down and everything suddenly became like a dream. My body moved on its own as it left out of harm's way, cause the Null to miss and crash into the cars that once stood behind me.
A resounding click came to my ears as the sound of gun being fired in quick succession rang out. The creature howled in pain with a ghastly wail as the bullets pierced its 'skin' while its partner charged at me once again. I dodged this one as easily as the one before, only it ignored this one and focused on the Null it had been firing upon. With a swift motion the lantern was point in the injured Null's direction and the simple command of “Exuro” was uttered. Fire covered the Null like its other brethren, only for it to blindside me as came charging out of the flames at full speed. My reaction was instantaneous as I drop both weapons and charged at the hulking thing.
The move was foolish and stupid, but luck was on my side as I slid through its legs and pulled a knife from my boot. I took after the beast as it couldn't stop itself and ran head on into a brick wall. No quarter was given as I began to slash at plunged my knife into it. A roar of pain echoed through the streets as it swung its lumbering arms around to swat me away. With the assortment of knifes hidden on my person, I began a deadly dance of death as I nimbly dodge the Null's blows and rammed my knives in it. It finally fell after having a seventh knife into its body, giving out a screech as tried to limp away.
A strange sense of satisfaction came over me as I slowly walked over and picked up Ricky's lantern and returned my pistol to its resting place. I wasted not a moment more as spoke the word and finally ended the Null with the lantern's flames. Now for the other Null-
A loud crash of shattering stone came from a nearby building as the second of the two Null landed in the street nearby.
“These assholes don't know when to give up. Just what does it take to kill these things, 'cause alcohol poisoning sure isn't gonna do it! At least I finally got some booze.”
I did not waste another moment as I repeated the word, causing the enchanted lantern to burn every last trace of the Null.
“Ms. Lina?” I questioned aloud as I was soon face to face with the mischievous demon.
“Ah, Fiona, or are you the other, more serious, Fiona? No wait, you don't look cheery. You're the other one. Good to see I found someone at least.”
”There is little time for you talk now, Ms. Wilder,” Valentine's voice rang in our heads. “There is a portal in the middle of the street just north of your position. Move out.” And with that, everything went silent.
“Welp, you heard the lady, let's move!” Ms. Lina shouted as she dragged me by the arm and through the rift.
Hours past as Ms. Lina fought our way through time. From the fires of Rome to the bloody streets of Stalingrad, we battled our way through with not a trace of the others. We weren't even sure where we gong until we finally went through a portal into what seemed like an endless world of nothing with only a giant door that stood in the distance.
“Well, I can see why this place is simply called, 'the Door'. Not a whole lot else going for this place. That is, unless you count those red sparks in the distance,” Ms. Lina remarked.
An unsettling felt entered my stomach as the portal closed behind us. Oh nuts.
“Nothing left to do but see what's going on.”
“Agreed,” I nodded just as a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the area. I didn't hesitate shout a single order to which of us would agree on. “Let's move!”
_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
We must have run least five kilometers before we became close enough to see what was the source of the screaming and electricity. To say what we saw was horrifying was putting it mildly. What laid before us was simply a slaughter. Bloody and bodies everywhere. All of the gods, good and bad, lay dead as a creature stood feasting on the corpses. The closest I could come to describe the creature was if the Big Bad Wolf and Smaug had a child, a glutton for death. It wasted no time in consuming everything until only us, it, and horrified looking fox with man in a tuxedo grasping him by the throat.
“This was not a part of our deal!” The fox managed to choke out.
“Nonsense! I promised you the power to create a universe as you fit and I am giving you such that.

“Nonsense! I promised you the power to create a universe as you fit and I am giving you such that. All that's left is for you to become one with the Junctionite who bears the blood of a Bel. Oh, and good luck fighting for dominance in that body, you won't win.” The man, who I assume is the Bel said with a malicious grin as he threw the fox to the beast.
The fox man cried out as he soared through the air and was swallowed in one bite.
Wait, Junctionite? But that means-!
“L-Lina,” I stuttered. “I- I think that creature is Ricky.”
