*This isn't the best photo- I took it outside and the natural light, while a lot better than inside , caused some uneveness in lighting*

My most recent painting, finished for an upcoming gallery show I'm aiming to get into.I might be a little funky for the demographic that that gallery usually has, but maybe funky is what they're been looking for!

This is a somewhat abstracted view of a location near where I live, just by the bayside. When the tide is high it comes halfway up the rock and leaves some water-rings and alge growth hanging off of the side. I had to get creative when sketching the spot and doing my pastel color model- I misread the tide charts so my intended drawing spot was underwater! I did try to get as close as possible which involved some slight rcok climbing, made difficult by the fact that I was carrying my skateboard with me in one hand and my supplies in the other.

The figure was based on a couple of things, I think Gollum is the most obvious. But I also those gasmasked-dudes in Pink Floyd: The Wall were a big inspiration. I had a vision of a gaunt and strange figure out on a rocky outcrop searching for its next meal in the waters below, but noticing the presence of another it turns and waits, trying to decide if you're a threat or not.
