I really hope that one day, Toho and Tsuburaya Productions will make a joint film about a Godzilla and Ultraman showdown. I wouldnβt care if either Godzilla won or Ultraman won because these two are icons in Japanese cinema.
It would be cool if they fought before having to face a threat that endangered the whole planet together. It would be a perfect demonstration of the characters different motivations for fighting.
Ultraman fights because heβs a defender of races that arenβt able to properly defend themselves from threats that exist on or beyond their worlds. Heβll pity Godzilla because of itβs tragic life, but still protect humanity because he knows that thereβs good in them.
Godzilla fights because Earth is itβs territory. Anyone that threatens itβs territory will face the consequences of challenging the King of the Monsters. Godzilla hates humanity because they have caused it nothing but pain and sadness. However, it can tolerate them as long as they leave him alone, but when they do get in his way, he shows no mercy.
