Description I wrote up a tutorial of my first leatherworking project. It took a lot of time and research, but I know anyone who has time and patience can do it. I also really want to thank the Tandy man who talked to me for about an hour when I went to their store. He gave me so much advice. Thank you!

I also learned a lot about leatherworking from who has a great maskmaking tutorial on her livejournal. I mean, that's what armor is, right? A mask for your body. Yesssss. Thank you!

Sorry for any typos (so tired), and please ask any questions you may have.

No, never done one before and I think I work too slow - my turnaround time would be horrible ;_; Thanks for asking though! Maybe if it was something small...what are you looking to get made?

My own armor for my blood elf. I know nothing about leather working, nor about how to do it myself.

Oh, yeah, that would take me way too long. My own armor took me about 6 months between school and work =/ If you have the time though I suggest you give it a try. There are some good tutorials/tips/info if you google leatherworking. If you live close to a Tandy store they are ALWAYS helpful and can show you techniques and what not. It was my first time working in leather but I found it very rewarding. If you ever want to try it out for yourself feel free to ask me any questions. I'd love to help!

This is freaking awesome !
It would be my dream to make such a great armor !
The result is absolutely stunning !

Excuse to ask this question but, how much cost you the leather ?
I heard it is very expensive, and I'l affraid of failing and lose a lot of money.
I admire your work so much !
Keep making cosplay, please !

OrangeMoose In reply to Ayanna-Workshop [2009-12-11 19:00:13 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

The whole side of cowhide you see in the tutorial cost about $120 USD. Just be sure to work slowly and take your time patterning and the cost is well worth it! Also, before you start doing any tooling be sure to practice on a small scrap of leather first, that way you know what the tool does before you use it on your actual costume.

Thanks again for the nice comment.

is it just about the same thing for guys but different fittings?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OrangeMoose In reply to zippo360 [2009-08-27 15:15:40 +0000 UTC]

With a guy it would be easier. The chest piece could just be one piece of leather since there would be no need for breast cups.
