I think the idea is nice and good that you credited me but it is terribly rude to use someone's picture before asking for a permission. never ever do that again, or else you might get in to trouble for breaking copyrights. I'll let it be since I'm not such a person who would hold grudge against someone

artists shouldn't have to always write that comment there you know. stock images are a totally different thing. Usually people tell if you can use their material freely.

Hello my name is Deborah MacDonald and I am the author of a book entitled Truth or Dare. Recently I began working on a book trailer that I could place on Youtube to promote the book. It is becoming more and more common for authors and publisher to use this method. Even Stephen King has done it with one of his more recent works entitled Duma Key.
Recently, I encountered the Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence Winner 2007 for Best Long Contemporary Romance Trailer A Storm\'s Coming (it has a good number of views at 147,771), but I thought that I could do better. And with your help I know I can.

You see I created a trailer to submit to the contest and it features one of your photos. I found your work so visually descriptive that I couldnβt help but choose it from the many thousands of photos that I looked at on Deviant Art. Of course I would never use your work without your permission, and I am hoping that you grant it.
Please keep in mind that I will give you proper credit by listing your name or studio, the title of the work, and a way to contact you (either a email address or a website address or even just a link for your work on deviant art) to find out how to purchase your work or book you for a shoot.
The reason I think that I can best showcase your talent is two fold:
Firstly, I believe that I have done such a good job with the trailer that I am the 2009 winner of the Best Contemporary Romance Trailer.
Secondly, I have been negotiating with a major talent for permission to use a song that will garnish many more hits than hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions. So expect if you allow me to use your work to be getting a great deal of attention. If you have your print available for purchase the more the better, if not; than, I suggest you consider doing so, perhaps we can all benefit by the use of our combined talents.
I firmly believe that we artistic types should stick together.

Hi,
I am not able to send it to your email, but I can upload it on megaupload if you would like to download it there. I will send the url for you to find the trailer, however keep in mind I have sent a trailer with a lower resolution, because it takes too long to upload the larger file, but it will still give you an idea of how your work is being represented.
Please ignore the song it is not the artist I am referring to, but the trailer is much more meaningful with the music included.

Should you choose to allow me to use your work after viewing the trailer this is what I would need from you.
I need you to email me with your name or studio, the title of the work, and what way you would like people to contact you. Whether you would like to include your email address or a website or even the url of your photo.
Then attach a letter giving the date, and stating that you give me permission to use your photo (donβt forget to give the title of the photo) for my book trailer of "Truth or Dare".
Then if you could sign it with your full name, we are good to go.
