We knew the world would not be the same.
(camera pans to show ruins of several Tokyo-03 cannon towers)
A few people laughed. A few people cried. Most people were silent
(We see Eva 00 with its face planted into a building while Eva 01 is shown to be buried under rubble with its hand sticking out)
I remembered the line from the Hindu Scripture, the Bhavagad-Gita.
(Unit 02 is limping out of the wreckage and we hear stomping noises)
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says...
(Unit 02 turns around and we see a shadowy creature outlined in the flames. It's Godzilla)
"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."
(the flames part to reveal Godzilla in his full body. He towers over Unit 02 snarling with his eyes are narrowed)
Godzilla: SKREEEEOOOOOONK!
I suppose we all thought that. One way or another.

(During the scenario)
A fist of fury, A deadly weapon
Rapier of Havoc, Raised up in anger
Born to do battle, without compassion
More than a soldier, More than a killer
And in his trail is mayhem
Destruction always follows
By stricken enemies of
the soldier of no sorrow
The band of menace beckons
In numbers his protection
the leaders of the raiders
The brothership forever

I'm trying to remember the first episode. If it was actually a nuke, wouldn't it have destroyed the city, or did it do nothing (I remember how cities would be retracted back underground). Also, I don't remember nukes ever being used on Godzilla in any of the movies. I'm not entirely sure, though. Maybe I'll rewatch the first episode of Evangelion.

Here, Godzilla was created by nuclear radiation. He was not suddenly given power by a nuclear explosion. There is a huge difference between the two. Radiation causes a mutation, and an explosion would just cause damage. I mean, unless it happened in one of the movies, there's nothing to say that Godzilla could withstand a nuke, especially considering that he has been put at bay but much weaker powered attacks (He's had his ass kicked by Mothra twice, and she didn't use nuclear blasts).
π: 0 β©: 1
BurningG-HellOnEarth In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-06-06 15:06:06 +0000 UTC]
Yes, exactly he was created from nuclear radiation, AKA a nuke! Being a leviathan thriving off of nuclear energy, if he were to be hit by a nuke, the radiation given off by the blast, being a ton, would only fuel the monstrosity, not weaken him!
π: 0 β©: 1
SamuraiBrosnya In reply to BurningG-HellOnEarth [2012-06-06 21:36:33 +0000 UTC]
No, because an explosion is a release of force. It's different from radiation. When a nuclear bomb explodes, radiation isn't what kills people. That's what lingers after the bomb has been dropped, and that's what spawned Godzilla. Therefore, he is not immune to a nuclear explosion.

BurningG-HellOnEarth In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-06-06 22:27:38 +0000 UTC]
Godzilla's withstood worse than a nuclear bomb, especially agains Monster X, and even if the blast does manage to miraculously damage him, the lingering radiation would bring him back to full strength anyway!

What attack of Monster X's (Final Wars Monster X, or Ghirorah?) is worse than a nuclear bomb?
π: 0 β©: 1
BurningG-HellOnEarth In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-06-07 02:48:46 +0000 UTC]
Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah's gravity beams (at least for Godzilla)! Those things are easily stronger than a nuke, causing Godzilla great pain, though he could survive either. There is just no way a nuke could hurt Godzilla, even if it did cause some (little, I repeat LITTLE!) damage to Godzilla, the nuclear energy lingering after the blast would heal him so their is no really point. Why do you think he was never used a nuke on him in the movies?! IT MAKES HIM STRONGER!!!

What do you have to justify them being stronger than a nuke?

EmperorMinilla In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-07-21 00:32:13 +0000 UTC]
Put it this way, Godzilla was hit by a meteor that wiped out the whole center of Tokyo and it created a crater in the ground. By measurement, Godzilla was about 1/20 the size of the crater and Godzilla himself was 100 meters (300 feet tall) so that meteor already was the equivalent... if not, maybe even MORE powerful than a nuke. In the end, Godzilla emerged from the crater COMPLETELY UNSCATHED .
When Godzilla fought Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah, Kaiser Ghidorah hit Godzilla with his Gravity Beams and he was able to cripple Godzilla within SECONDS. So yes, that is why the attacks of Monster X are worse than a nuclear bomb good sir ^^. I hope that clears it up for ya .

I will admit that I haven't seen Final Wars, but it is one of the few Godzilla movies that I haven't seen. Based on what I have heard about Final Wars , Godzilla seems very powerful, and actually a planet buster. In this case, he may be stronger than an Eva. However, this is only one version of Godzilla, used in only one movie. It doesn't just take precedence over the other versions of him. This makes Godzilla a difficult character to compare to other characters, but I believe that both Showa, Heisei, and various newer (the continuity isn't as united with the more recent films, is it?) versions of Godzilla.

EmperorMinilla In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-07-22 03:17:15 +0000 UTC]
Very true but the same can be said about the rest of the millennium (the recent ones) films as the only ones with actual continuity are "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla" and "Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S" . The other millennium films are like Final Wars in terms of being "stand-alones". In a nutcase though, I consider every version of Godzilla but when someone wants to discuss Big G's power, I usually reffer back to his strongest incarnations since there are A LOT of versions of him
. Since there are also so many versions of Godzilla and since all of them have different powers and different time-lines (but share the same DNA), I usually refer to Godzilla as "one being" because it's better than talking about which version would loose and which version wouldn't because let's face it... I would be here for a LONG TIME if I were to explain each Goji individually .

SamuraiBrosnya In reply to EmperorMinilla [2012-07-27 18:03:06 +0000 UTC]
I was just saying that Godzilla is a lot like Superman in this respect. Some versions of Superman are impossible to kill, and basically God-tier, capable of pretty much doing anything, however, certain versions of him aren't that strong. How does the being that can only be harmed by kryptonite somehow lose to Doomsday so easily? Superman has existed for so long and has had so many different forms that all of the versions of the character are hardly connected, and the same goes for Godzilla.
π: 0 β©: 1
EmperorMinilla In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-07-27 18:27:58 +0000 UTC]
Makes sense when you put it that way . You don't know much about Doomsday do you though: "How does the being that can only be harmed by kryptonite somehow lose to Doomsday so easily?". That's because Doomsday can be compared to Batman's "Bane". He's the only villain to ever truly physically outmatch Superman. If you read his bio, it even clearly states that he is stronger than any Kryptonian so yeah... that's why he was able to beat Superman so easily. In the end, Doomsday has always been able to outmatch Superman physically so there is no inconsistency there... hope that answers your question .
Like I said though, I consider Godzilla as "one person" when I'm debating and I take into consideration his greatest feats. If you compare him in a different way, then that's fine .
π: 0 β©: 1
SamuraiBrosnya In reply to EmperorMinilla [2012-07-27 18:35:14 +0000 UTC]
I realize that Doomsday is supposed to physically outmatch Superman, but think of everything Superman is capable of! He should be able to be killed by something that's purely physical. When a meteor was heading towards Earth, he pushed the Earth out of the way of the meteor in order to stop it. He has also survived Supernova explosions. Think of how much pressure Superman can withstand. I understand that Doomsday is supposed to outmatch Kryptonians, but think about this realistically. If you consider all versions of Superman, Doomsday shouldn't be able to accomplish the same things, or be as strong as him at all. You know what I mean?
I think that's a fair way to debate it if you want. I just think that overall, it is hard to do so. I usually think of Heisei or late Showa Godzilla, because those are the most prevalent versions, but they aren't the only versions.

EmperorMinilla In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-07-27 19:45:29 +0000 UTC]
I know what you mean but you did say "think about this realistically" . I don't recall Superman ever being realistic (or Doomsday)
. In a nutshell, Doomsday is the villain who killed Superman, just like how Bane broke the Bat. This isn't rocket science, just think of all those feats that Superman accomplished (that you described to me) and think of Doomsday doing even better... really, it's not hard to think of
.
π: 0 β©: 1
SamuraiBrosnya In reply to EmperorMinilla [2012-07-27 20:03:09 +0000 UTC]
Batman is a normal person, so of course he could be killed by Bane.
Here, just look at something like the Superman Animated Series, or the Justice League, and think of how much weaker he is in comparison to his much more powerful incarnations. In the more recent cartoons, Superman struggled from time to time, so its not exactly the same character who survived supernovas and moved planets.
Also, Doomsday just doesn't seem anywhere near as powerful as Superman's other incarnations. It's like you can just imagine Doomsday doing them/ If he could do those things, he probably would, lol.
Sorry, but I don't think we should argue about Superman vs Doomsday on a picture of Godzilla vs an Eva.

EmperorMinilla In reply to SamuraiBrosnya [2012-07-27 20:52:02 +0000 UTC]
"Batman is a normal person, so of course he could be killed by Bane."
Godzilla is nowhere near a normal creature and in the recent films, he could do the most insane stuff like surviving that meteor impact unscathed... and Kaiser Ghidorah still nearly killed him .
True we shouldn't argue and Superman and Doomsday here, kinda pointless . I won't argue but I will point something out. This is what I read on Superman: "The powers of the DC Comics character Superman have changed a great deal since his introduction in the 1930s. As the character developed, his abilities were enhanced in order to maintain the interest of his audience. The extent of his powers peaked during the 1970s and 80's, to the point where it became difficult to create suitable challenges for the character. As a result, his powers were significantly reduced when his story was rebooted by writer John Byrne after the Crisis on Infinite Earths series. After Byrne's departure, Superman's powers were gradually increased again, although he still remains weaker than his Pre-Crisis incarnation."
So apparently, the powers of Superman were reduced for good reason . But the difference between Godzilla's greatest feats and Superman's greatest feats are that while Superman's are kind of inconsistent (considering that they seem to get weaker, stronger, weaker and so forth), Godzilla's powers (and the monsters around him) seemed to just increase with each series with the exception of a few Millennium films (since those few were completely different Gojis) but otherwise, Godzilla's power seemed to increase quite consistently if you ignore those few films.
Just to add a laugh, it's a good thing Doomsday didn't exist in the 1930's... because he would've done a lot more than just move those planets .

Godzilla is a living nuke... Times 1000 and I'm also not positive it was a nuke but it did make a farely large crater and left a medium sized chunk missing from the angel's shoulder and though it did begin to regenerate Godzilla has equal if not superior regenerative abilities as well
π: 0 β©: 2
SamuraiBrosnya In reply to cfakatsuki [2012-06-06 02:32:05 +0000 UTC]
I believe that the missile used was an N2 mine, which contains an AT Field, and I think that's why it was able to harm the angel.
I do realize that Godzilla was altered by radiation, but he has been harmed in basically every movie. Maybe not by the army, but the fact that certain monsters, like Space Godzilla, which are dopplegangers, could harm him seem to show that he could be harmed by other nuclear blasts.
Also, I don't remember both Godzilla and Evangelion too well (I watched Evangelion about two years ago, and though I've seen a lot of Godzilla movie, it really has been a while). When has Godzilla used regenerative abilities? I don't recall that, but I don't doubt it. I remember some of his even more bizarre abilities, like temporary flight (lol, where did that come from?).
