I've seen Bigg's orca do this in the wild when they are ramming into harbour porpoises. Insane ability, these are incredible animals.

I can't believe she can jump as high as she is long (perhaps even higher) It's just...wow. I have to fav this simply because its a freakin orca jumping 17ft in the air 0____0
I've always been concerned though that one of them will get huge air like this, miscalculate, and jump right out of the tank >.>

But, I don't think there is anything to worry about ... I have never heard of an orca jumping out of a tank before. They're pretty smart ! (Free Willy was just a movie ).

I know they're really smart, but it would only take a little miscalculation on their part...I'm pretty sure i heard that a dolphin has died by jumping out of its tank. *shrugs* Ahh well. Lets hope it stays unheard of an orca jumping out

The whales are smarter than Hollywood movie writers

I overhear a lot of questions about the whales that come from people who have only seen orcas in 'Free Willy' ... and those questions are based on inaccurate information (to put it nicely) spewed out in that movie.

This is not the best photo in the world but it's one of my favorites because it reminds me of what these magnificent creatures can do ... and what I can get pictures of them doing, if I'm lucky
