Description
Another member of the noble line of Staggle Grep is the younger brother of Yig. While an ageing goblin in his own right he has much more fire in his belly and a thirst to quest and adventure. What is his quest? To rid the world of its greatest plague. Spell casters. For Grep the grudge goes way back when he lost his arm to a spell casters magic weapon and his eye to an acid arrow, that and the fact that said spell caster was only attacking him and his kin for their right ears. Why their ears? Not because of a potion ingredient or to fulfill a quest need but because of a bounty on Goblin, Orc, Troll, Ogre ears to show proof of their extermination. The bounty set out to encourage adventurers to clear frontier lands for human settlement. Though most of the goblin band lost their lives and their ears Grep managed to escape losing only his eye and his hand. The experience has left a great distaste for all spell casters.
Prior to this Grep had been an adept swordsman but had favored his right hand, having lost it left him in a bad situation, but lucky his latent psionic heritage had been triggered by the traumatic effect resulting in him being able to create a psi blade of mental energy. Taking this as some sort of sign he began to practice swordsmanship once more, as well as a new topic, the arts of magic. He had no intention of learning the wretched craft but instead to learn how to fight it. He taught himself how to recognize spells, and incantations as well as how to counter them and defend against them. So extensive was his magical lore that if for whatever reason he felt inclined to actually cast spells he could likely be capable of doing so, but such a thing would be abominable in his sight.
Several years of anger fueled training later he returned to the frontier to find it still struggling against his more monstrous kin. Rather boldly he approached the main frontier settlement and outside of it declared his challenge to the one who had killed his kin and maimed him to finish the job and claim the bounty on his ear. He did not expect a response but the fates favored him that day and the same spell caster was not only in town but accepted the challenge feeling that a crippled Goblin would be an easy earning of gold. Alas the poor fools mistake when he realized that this goblin was no easy foe, evading his attacks and resisting his spells, and once Grep closed the distance the wizard was good as lost. He couldn’t get a single spell out without it being interrupted, no matter how hard he tried to cast defensively, and a prior to seemingly unarmed goblin proved much more fearsome when he was hacking at the wizard with a glowing blade of energy.
Shocked and astonished that Grep had killed the spell caster the town guards did not impede his progress as he headed towards the bounty collection office. Learning that the bounty of ears was still in effect he cut off his own right ear much to the surprise of those around and collected his own bounty. With some of the earnings he purchased paper and ink and there posted another bounty on the tongues of spell casters for ten times the bounty on goblin ears, for without their tongues spell casters can’t call their chants or pray to their vile gods. To this day no one has claimed a tongue bounty, but neither have they forgotten the Goblin.
---
Grep as has been established is a wizard fighter, fueled by his drive to purge the world of their ilk. He's not evil as he doesn’t take sadistic pleasure in tormenting wizards nor does he murder them willy nilly, but his anger keeps him from a good alignment. In DND terms he is a 15th level character, with 10 levels in soul knife, 3 in Kensi and 2 in Occult slayer. He isn’t magic proof but his high saves and feats give him a definite edge in combat, especially the powers gained from his psi blade. His feats allow him to royally ruin any spell caster he gets in melee with, preventing them from casting defensively, casting quickened spells or taking any minor spell action without encountering an attack of opportunity to which he happily spends psionic strike and psychic weapon to max out the spell ruining damage. His blade also has the ability to as a standard action cast dispel magic in a 5 foot radius around him and once per day he can lock a wizard in place with dimensional anchor when he strikes with his blade. He can even ignore any miss chance from spells such as invisibly, blur ext. and with a special attack can not only ignore any ac bonus from spells but cancel any spells giving a bonus to AC. He does extra damage to spell casters and on the odd occasion can even turn one of their spells back at them. Concerning non spell casters he has few benefits though is a capable combatant in his own right.
When Grep is not trying to kill spell casters or other magical abominations he often enjoys his time alone. While he enjoys the benefits of being in the noble house of staggle he is rarely home, often fishing while smoking a pipe. While he believes Psion’s to be superior to spell casters he doesn’t think of them as an overly superior to the rest of the world and considers himself for all intents and purposes just as adapt a warrior as any normal swordsman. He is none too fond of Dwarfs, Giants and could care less for humans though is not driven by any drive to act against them, but loathes spell casters of any variety and claims it will be a frozen day in the nine hells when he willingly and wittingly calls a spell caster friend.
RP opportunity
Necromancers were among Grips least favorite spell casters but among his most favorite to kill. As if it wasn’t bad enough that wizards had to cast their dark spells and ruin lives with their magic, the necromancers desecrated the dead and forced them to do their bidding. This one he had just fought was just starting out, raising a few skeletons and zombies and feeling like he was the next big thing until Grep the wizard snapper knocked him down a peg. Not trusting Necromancers to remain dead Grep had taken the alternative and instead had cut the fools tongue out as well as cutting off each of his fingers. Given by the fact that said necromancer couldn’t cast any spells afterwards it was obvious he didn’t have either the silent spell or still spell feats meaning it would be at bare minimum two levels before he could properly start casting again and lasting two levels without full spell casting ability was a near impossibility. Leaving the maimed caster whimpering in a corner Grep took to collecting his loot and destroying any magical items, scrolls and books he could find that he couldn’t make use of. That done he left without so much as a look back. Outside the sun shone brightly, the birds sang and Grep noticed he had company. A stranger approaching towards him from the distance. Was this stranger friend, or foe? A wizard seeking revenge for a college or perhaps someone seeking his assistance or perhaps someone seeking to stop the necromancer Grep had already brought low. Ready on the initiative he paused ready to react however needs be as the figure approached.
