This is my entry for weapondesigners post-apocalyptic contest.

GARBAGE GUN

It works very simple. When you pull the trigger, some gas, keept under pressure in a can over the gun, will be released inside it fastly, pushing a piece of metal inside the barrel.

Anything inside the barrel (grenades, hand-made bombs, rocks, sharp pieces of metal...) will be throwed at the enemy by the metal piece, like a ballista or a catapult.

After the shot, the user needs to push the handler in front of the gun, opening a valve to release the gas and push the metal piece back to its place for another shot.

Its more sucessfully used as an post-apocalypse mortar.

- Caliber: depends on the pipe used to build the gun

- Ammo: almost anything that can fill into the barrel

- Range: light objects can be throwed up to 100m, but heavier objects can reach just 30m or less...

- Accuracy: Bad. Almost like a half-barrel shotgun

- Gas: Usually people uses air, just pumping it with some pneumatic engine, like that ones used to fill balls and tires with air.

- Weight: Depends on the pipe you use to build it. Can go from 1kg to several dozens...

- Good side: Easy to build, don't need special ammo, cheap, can throw bombs, can fire in angle to avoid barricades and walls.

-Bad side: Not accurate, bad range with heavy objects.
