Allow me to shed some light on this one. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is part first-person shooter but for the most part a survival horror game by Headfirst Productions. The game combines (quite well, I might add) elements from several of H.P. Lovecraft's stories, mostly ' The Shadow over Innsmouth' and 'The Shadow Out of Time'. Since it was made by an extremely small company, I'm not surprised if you've never heard of it. I imagine only the most devoted fans of Lovecraft's works have.

Why should it have a remake then? It's widely considered to be among the best Lovecraftian horror games out there, but unfortunately, it had quite a troubled production. Making the game took many years longer than expected and it was quite expensive as well. Despite positive reviews, the game was a commercial failure, which in turn led to Headfirst Production's bankruptcy. For this reason, the game unfortunately remains in a somewhat unfinished state and suffers from several bugs at specific points and is occasionally very prone to crashing.

In addition, the game actually had several planned sequels - which understandably were never made due to the bankruptcy. What a waste.

There's no shortage of games people would want remastered versions of, but this game would definitely deserve one. For this is a horror game I consider an underrated gem.
