Description
On October 14, 2017, a series of bombings in Mogadishu, Somalia left over 300 people dead and hundreds wounded. Officials claim the death toll is expected to rise; unfortunately, many of deceased may never be properly identified due to the severity the blast. The latest series of events shocked a nation that is already deep in conflict and famine; for many Somalians this was the worst violence they've ever seen. I express my solidarity to all the victims and their families, and I hope those injured make a full recovery.

This drawing depicts one of the most recognizable buildings in Mogadishu, the Mosque of Islamic Solidarity. Its size, facades, and bold colour makes it a notable building in African architecture. I want to highlight the beauty of life elsewhere that sometimes is obscured by conflict. This illustration was drawn with prismacolor nupastels and charcoal.
