"First foals are looking pretty good, hey?"

Asmani looked up from where she was leaning against the railing, watching the small group within, and smiled slightly as she saw her partner, Alice, walking up. Shifting slightly to make room for the redhead (a move that was more symbolic than necessary), Asmani went back to looking at the horses with bright eyes.

"They are," she agreed, leaning lightly into Alice's side as she joined her at the fence. The two watched the mini herd quietly together for a bit, giggling slightly at some of the foals' antics, before Asmani spoke up again. "I've never seen foals before," she said with a small quirk of her lips, flicking her eyes to her girlfriend before returning her gaze to the younglings again. "The riding school I used to ride at... they didn't do breeding, it was very much a lesson pony operation. So this is... pretty different."

"Oh! No wonder you've been spending so much time out here," Alice teased, nudging the slighter woman gently with her shoulder. "I'm sure they'd let you get more hands on with the babies if you asked; De'vier seems pretty accomodating, y'know?"

Asmani smiled slightly shyly and shrugged a shoulder. "Maybe. I don't know though... I wouldn't want to hurt them by accident or anything," she said quietly.

"It's hard to do anything worse than they could do to each other, kid," a new voice came from behind them, warm and amused. Both women startled and spun around to regard the newcomer with widened eyes; were Asmani's skin lighter, she no doubt would have been rocking quite the blush.

Jason grinned as he strode up to the younger riders, somewhat amused by their sudden shyness. The two were new to the centre — even considering how new VE itself was — and they still seemed to be settling in, though Alice seemed more outgoing than her girlfriend. It was pretty novel for Jason to be treated like an authority, someone to be respected, but no doubt that would wear off as the two ladies got to know him. Awkwardness didn't tend to last long when you all were shoveling manure together, after all!

Still, it probably wouldn't hurt to get a headstart on that.

"Wanna help me bring them in?" Jason offered, smiling as he shook a the handful of halters he held. "Bandy's got some people coming to see him later, so he's going to need a good brushin'. And Buff—sorry, Okiya, I believe they've named her—is due to be picked up by the team from WFS tomorrow, so she'll need a bit of fussin' too," he said, joining the two at the gate.

"Aww, it'll be a shame to see them go," Alice said, pouting theatrically. "Bandy's my boy," she added cheekily. Asmani snorted uncharacteristically at that, knowing the truth; that Alice had been trying ineffectually to court the affections of the yearling for weeks now. Still, she couldn't help but wonder... "What about the other two?"

Jason handed her Sahra's headstall, knowing the twins would follow their mother where she went, young as they were. "Well, it'll be a while yet before they'll be ready to go; they were pretty late dropping after all. So they'll be around for a while longer at least," he said, slinging Bandy's and Okiya's halters over his shoulder as he swung a leg over the fence and entered the paddock. "So, if you want to get a bit of experience with handling foals... I'd be happy to teach you with them," he added kindly, smiling as the younger woman's eyes lit up.

"I'd like that, Mr. White, thank you," Asmani said, eyes bright even as her voice and smile remained soft.

Jason grinned and winked. "Just Jason, kid. Mr. White's my daddy."

Alice wrinkled her nose, shuddering theatrically, "Urgh. Please, never say the d word, ever again..."

Jason's laughter rung out loudly over the paddock.
