Description Rise of the Guardians = AWESOME!

Saw it yesterday and loved it. We are definitely getting it once it comes out on DVD, and might even go see it in theatres again if it comes out in town rather than an hour's drive away...

But baby Bunnymund! All cute and still trying to put his paw down against the bad guys. If he still had his boomerangs, this would probably be something of what he'd look like, only fifty times as adorable. I don't do well with drawing 'cute,' it seems. Ah well.

Really quick scribble just for fun.

It counts in some peoples' books. Bunnymund might possibly be one of those people.

OH MY GOSH IT'S BABY BUNNY!!!! Yes, he would still be fighting and probably be able to kick your butt. He's like Puss in Boots from Shrek, distract with the cute, whoop your butt in the next second.

Is this an actual scene in the movie?

I'm already fangirling over Bunnymund, and I haven't even seen the movie yet!

Bunnymund does go tiny. He doesn't have his boomerang, though he does kind of lift up his fists and tell the enemy they'll have to go through him first a couple of times, which is just as cute.

Bunnymund is awesome at several moments in the film; I think you'll enjoy it.

Awww. I still haven't seen Rise of the Guardians because I'm waiting for it to come to a $3 theater because I'm that cheap.

BUT STILL! I WANNA SEE IT SOOO BAD NOW THAT I HAVE MY FRIENDS' OPINION OF IT!

Ahem. Anyway... yeah. Great drawing.

I know the feeling. When my mom rented Madagascar 3 on TV, I watched it over and over and over and over until I couldn't keep awake and had to go to sleep. Last week, during Black Friday, I bought it on dvd.

Kitten? He wasn't a kitten...:/

But YES it was loverly. I was honestly surprised by the internal conflict of belief and wanting to be seen; they did a good job keeping hints of that out of the trailers. I expected just what those showed; pretty much a kid's action film, forces of good versus those of darkness, etc. The moment Jack spoke to the moon asking what he was doing wrong, that he couldn't be seen, my heart just went out to him. He needed a hug. I'm so glad he got one at the end.

Out of curiosity, did you entertain the possibility of Jamie and Sophie being distant descendants of Jack's little sister? She did survive that day after all, and they are living in the same area, and there were some parallels made between them (for plot purposes, I know, but still...) It's not important, just occured to me, and now I'm comparing notes.

Also, my sister and I did this last night when we got back: Bunnymund, Knight of Hope. Tooth, Sylph of Mind. North, Heir of Heart. Sandy, Mage of Light. Jack, Rogue of Breath. Pitch, Prince of Doom.

Yup.

(A baby rabbit's a kitten. I learned that from Watership Down!)

It was pretty much everything I hoped it would be, and my mom and I both want to buy it. I actually teared up a bit at the part where Pitch snapped Jack's staff and tossed him and Baby Tooth into a crevice. Good thing he didn't think to take back the memories...

I have heard that fan-theory, and it's certainly a possibility.

That... yeah, that pretty much makes sense and I agree with all of it. Except maybe Void for Pitch.

Oreramar In reply to av-marten [2012-11-26 01:25:09 +0000 UTC]

Ah, is it? I sort of wondered, but wasn't sure. I'm too used to baby rabbits simply being called "bunnies."

We considered void for Pitch, but decided in the end that Pitch was more about fear, or doom, than about nothingness.

And none of them would wear their god tier outfits, I think. At best they might adopt elements, but that's it.

Oh good, I'm not the only one thinking that theory. Not that it's all that important, but it's something to think about.

It was better than I hoped it would be. So pleased! All the emotions were perfect, from the guys turning tooth collection into an extreme competition on every level to, yes, Jack's confrontation with Pitch in Antarctica. Every moment was sheer brilliance. I think this has joined How to Train your Dragon as my favorite Dreamworks movie. It might even have surpassed it...I'll have to wait for the "new toy shine" to wear down a bit before I can make that call in all fairness, though.

There's also the lack of Space/Time, but maybe Jamie can be the Space guy and, I dunno, Cupcake or that kid with the glasses can be Time.

I've been having random plotbunnies/artbunnies. One artbunny is of the Guardians plus maybe temporary-ally Pitch fighting against Slenderman. And there's this other persistent plotbunny of some sort of crossover between Rise of the Guardians and The Little Match Girl, mainly because of the fact that the little girl has dreams of Christmas while slowly freezing to death, and that's like three of them involved right there.

I cracked up at most of the jokes, too, like the four of them lining up at a laundromat for coins, or the part where Tooth tosses Pitch a quarter before knocking one of his teeth out. That was priceless.

Eh, they're just not a functional team in terms of a successful session. Doomed from the start, largely due to the fact that they lack space/time. They could definitely kick butt as far as the battles go, but universe creation? Nope, sorry.

The little match girl one - so sad! That story always makes me cry. It's double-sad when you throw Jack into it, because while his would likely be a background role, it'd be the one that most contributed to her death, completely unintentionally. He's got such a double-edged ability, and he sort of only sees the fun side, the sledding and snowball fights and such, not the freezing-to-death and the pneumonia potential...

That quarter was the best set-up to a sucker punch ever. Ever.

It would probs end up being one of those divine-intervention-requiring dealies. Or maybe the Man in the Moon jumps in as the Seer of Space?

Sort of. On the other hand, the Guardians are sworn to protect children at all costs, and the reason why she didn't go home was because her father would beat her for not selling any matches. It's straightforward to protect children from the King of Nightmares, but how do you protect a little girl from her abusive parents when you can't even touch them? What if the reason she froze to death among happy dreams that could never come true was that ending her suffering was the only way they could help her? Which makes it even more horrible.

Plus the revelation that none of the Guardians really interact with the children, which also leads to some Fridge Heartwarming when Jack shows off that, despite his lack of Guardian status, he still cares a lot about the kids.

Nah, not Manny. He's too...I don't know. He's hardly there. More a guiding force, it seems, than an actual character. At least, that's how he felt.

But yes, that was really lovely. It was how Jack helped the Guardians beyond just joining the fight and fostering belief. So many layers of conflict and character development!

And that was what I loved about this movie. Even though it was sort of simple in terms of the black-and-white good vs. evil conflict, it still managed to have complexity to it and not treat its presumably young audience like idiots.

You know, there was this other trailer I saw for another upcoming movie. But for the life of me I can't remember the title. It was the same CG animation as Rise of the Guardians, but it was about fairies in a forest or something, and a guy gets shrunk down to help them fight evil... kind of like Ferngully I guess, but without the environmental thing.

Ah, yes! I saw that trailer too. Epic or Epic Movie or something like that...I can't quite recall. What I saw looked interesting - did you see the bit with the slug? "Dude, you need to let go now. Let go, let go let go Let GO!"
