Worth it though!
It's not a good photo if it doesnt have a story of the photographer suffering behind it

Well. I would not say its a "simple" shot ))
I spent about 2 hours in water to make this photo with Zuiko 35mm without a tripod.

Ooops, I should have clarified better with that. I meant simple as in "uncluttered" rather than a busy shot with a lot of different things in it .
Wow, 2 hours to get the shot? That's determination. It looks great!

Yes outdoor.
This is one of my first macros.
I used my Olympus E-410 und Zuiko 35mm lens.
The distance between the lens and the insect was 6 cm.
Not easy. Especially if you stay in the moorland water.

it allowed you to be as close as 6cm? no way!!! most of the water strider I saw, they'll run when I come within 1 meter. I use my 105mm lens and it can't capture an awesome shot like this. [link]
beautiful shot.

50% Of my macros were made with Zuiko 35mm.
And sometimes the distance was 4cm.
You have to communicate with the insect.
You shall understand what its going to do in the next moment.
Do not move too fast. Do not breathe.. Etc...
Now I also use Sigma 105mm 2.8.
Nice lens.

Oh, I though you have 105mm 2.8.
You should buy it and you'll see the difference!
You will also get better pics if there is not enough light.
Aperture 2.8 will help you!

When I dont' have enough light.. I really don't have enough light so 2.8 wouldn't help.
Anyway, right now I'm looking for a lens to fulfill my macro and more zoom needs. maybe a 400mm with macro.
thanks.
