Description

The Large Orbital Lander is still in its Alpha phases, early testing in the field. Designed to either replace or co-operate with the smaller AMILIA unit, this machine is likewise designed to survive the intense conditions of the vacuum of space.

The L.O.L.A consists mostly of a large metal-plated sphere, the exterior of which is multilayered and heavily reinforced to protect it both on exit and re-entry of earth's atmosphere. Underneath the heavy plates, a gyroscopic cradle houses a massive databank and CPU, the volume a necessity for this probe's superior processing power, cooling conduits and a powerful data-relay take up the remainder of this space, while four large retractable lander legs tessellate neatly into cavities between the processor and the hull.

though the massive probe unit is a feat of engineering itself, the reality is it can be too large for some circumstances, and its basal nature of design means it's not equipped to handle itself in an emergency, for these reasons, the L.O.L.A has a second part, an android upper half ensures this machine has the necessary digits to perform self-repair and fine motor actions. and the entire "torso" can separate from the probe's "brain" to perform small time recon. though due to a tether range and power supply, it cannot go far without having to retreat to the larger hull again soon.

As said before, The L.O.L.A is still in alpha testing, and is only hanging in low-earth-orbit for now. performing cursory scans on nearby space. I do have larger plans for the machine in the future, though i am not ready to quote release those to the public yet.

I thought her body was a inflatable stitched balloon.

No that'd be Wendy. Lola is a hard metal plated sphere, which is important since she traverses outer space and frequently enters/exits the gravity and atmosphere of earth.
