Both names give unpleasant associations to mind. Tuberculosis and devil. Still, mushroom looks pretty. How does it smell?

I agree about the names. Apparently they are 2 different species and this one seems to be P. tuberculosa.
The smell was evoqued by the abstract form of a man with his nose under the mushroom on the lower left
I thought of the smell of girolle (with the colour) wihich is one of my favourites: organicvision.deviantart.com/a…

Girolle is Cantharellus cibarius? If yes, it's one of mushrooms I tolerate as food (I hate to eat mushrooms, they just don't fit to my taste.)

i would plumb for pholiota tuberculosa as the stem is smoother and less robust
