Description Liriodendron tulipiferaThe tulip tree is one of the largest of the native trees of the eastern United States, known to reach the height of 60 m (190 ft), with a trunk 3 m (10 ft) in diameter.

This one is growing in a park near my home in southeast France.

I was trying to see that tree blooming for 4 years in Botanical Garden. I never went in proper moment.

This one is just outside my office and I didn't see the flowers until I was under it.

Beautiful!    Around here it is hard to find one of the "tulips" open and with all its petals still intact!  This is the preferred food of the caterpillars of the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly.

Apparently we imported the tree without the pests. This one was in full bloom yesterday.
...if you can call swallowtail butterflies "pests".
